French was pioneer of tank. In WW1, France developed FT-17 light tank. This model is new global standard and the design is valid today.
After the war, France continued developing tanks. They were tough and had powerful gun. But in WW2, they could not demonstrate the power enough.
I think S35 and B1 are tough. Why they couldn’t work ?
Actually, they were tough, but operation was tooooo bad. German used tanks as “troops”, we used tank as “single”. We did not have effective know-how.
Under German occupation, some French engineers were thinking that they made original French powerful tank after independence.
In 1944, French was independence and the plan was put in action. France wanted to contribute the war. But French lost the technology, the development was late and late.
The completed was 1949. Gun:90mm, Speed :35km/h, Weight:50 ton.
Long gun and heavy armor ! This is the tank !
