Battle of Nagashino ~Decisive battle~

Battle of Nagashino castle is not decisive. The decisive is in field and mountains.

When Nobunaga and Ieyasu reached near Nagashino castle, they build position on hill, and surprise attacked to Takeda.

This attacked succeeded. Alliance defeated some Takeda troops and saved Nagashino castle.

Takeda lost their operation “Drop Nagashino castle”. And alliance soldiers about 35,000 and had hard protect. Takeda was 15,000. Some of vassals said “please back” to Kasthuyori.

But he never backed. Because if he backed, his people disappointed him and it would cause civil war. charge is only way for win.

He decided to charge in 26 June 1575.

Right “長篠城” is castle. Left is deceive battle field. The distance is about 5km.
Blue flags are alliance. Red is Takeda position.

Alliance defense position. Behind is hill. the structure are force fence.

Alliance made triple fence and trench 2km long. And Nobunaga had over 1,000 guns.

Takeda charged this fence 8 hours, but could not breakthrough this hard protect. The strongest soldiers and cavalry were broken. And Kasthuyori lost many important vassals since Shingen.

Alliance lost many soldiers too but won.

After this war, Takeda headed for destruction.
